Topic: Recent Advances in Verification Technologies for European Land Border Crossing Points

Christof Jonietz received the Diploma (Dipl.-Ing.) in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences Mannheim, Germany, in 2001, and the Master degree in Information Technology from the same university in 2002. For his Master Thesis, he received a best thesis award from the T-Systems branch of the "Deutsche Telekom". In 2008, he received the Ph.D. (Doctor of Engineering) for his research on multiple antenna systems and space-time coding for future WLAN systems from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany. In 2007, he was also a visiting scientist at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. He started his career in 2008 as a project manager in the field of signal and image processing for companies in automotive industry and transportation. In 2013 he joined Fraunhofer IOSB, Karlsruhe, where he did research in the field of computer vision and machine learning for biometric applications. Since 2016 he is professor at SRH University Heidelberg, where he covers the fields of signal and image processing, machine learning, and communications engineering in research and teaching. Since 2017 he is dean of studies of the Bachelor’s program "Electrical Engineering". Prof. Jonietz is a member of the Informationstechnische Gesellschaft (ITG).
